Job description
Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and support to youth in a mentoring capacity
- Assist with the development and implementation of individualized plans for youth
- Collaborate with probation office, such as social workers and educators, to ensure the wellbeing of the youth
- Help youth develop life skills and navigate challenges they may face
- Serve as a positive role model and advocate for the youth
- Create a safe and supportive environment for youth to express themselves
- Utilize conflict management techniques to address conflicts that may arise
Requirements:
- Experience working with teens, preferably in a special education, childcare, child welfare, or behavioral health setting
- Knowledge of child development and social work principles,
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to educate and mentor youth effectively
- Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with youth facing challenges
- Ability to establish boundaries while maintaining a supportive relationship with the youth
