Introduction:
The Maryland State Retirement Agency is the administrator of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System.
The System is a multi-employer, public employees' benefit retirement system composed of twelve (12) separate retirement and pension systems with additional plan components, covering approximately 193,000 active members and more than 170,000 retires and beneficiaries.

Main Purpose of Job:
POSITION DUTIES:
- Presents a professional, knowledgeable image to customers. Interacts with the customers to determine their need for assistance.
- Collects documents and forms from customers.
- Notarizes customer signatures as required on certain agency forms.
- Collects payments from customers for things like deficiency payments or purchases of service and distributes payments to customers who have requested to come into the Agency and physically pick up their check.
- Maintains payment receipts and payment disbursement logs.
- Answers basic questions as related to retirement benefits.
- Determines the need for assistance beyond what they can offer at the Front Desk and helps the customer navigate through their interaction with the Agency.
- Maintains the reception area and Front Desk to present a clean, neat, safe, and organized environment to the customers.
- Ensure confidentiality and handle customer information discretely.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:
Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least one year of experience in a customer service role.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
