    Career Opportunity: Civil Engineer III P.E.

    The City of Johnson City in Tennessee is currently seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer III P.E. to join their dynamic Public Works Department team. This role involves overseeing complex civil engineering projects, managing public works initiatives, and ensuring the approval of building site plans. The ideal candidate will apply professional engineering expertise to various projects, from design and planning to construction and maintenance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Designing construction plans for public works and utility projects
    • Producing cost estimates for projects
    • Supervising construction of public works and utility projects
    • Conducting flood hazard analyses
    • Providing technical guidance to contractors and the public
    • Solving construction and material challenges
    • Processing invoices for project payments
    • Engaging in engineering research for proposals and contract documents
    • Ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards
    • Reviewing site and subdivision plans for code compliance

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Extensive knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices
    • Experience with engineering drafting and survey systems
    • Ability to apply engineering methods to public works projects
    • Strong decision-making skills for public safety
    • Proficiency in software such as MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD

    Experience and Education Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil engineering and substantial experience in municipal civil engineering. This includes involvement in engineering programs and projects. Candidates must also undergo pre-employment screenings.
