Ozlem Baydaroglu Yesilkoy

I have studied both environmental engineering and meteorology. During my PhD, I worked as a research assistant at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and assisted in the Data Analysis, Atmospheric Thermodynamics, and Statistical Methods of Atmospheric Sciences courses. In 2016, I received the best doctoral thesis award and received my doctorate. After my PhD, I taught Hydrology and Hydraulic Engineering at a private university where I worked. I conducted graduation projects related to the hydrometeorological data mining.

 
I have continued as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Iowa—IIHR Hydroscience and Engineering and Hydroinformatics Lab by getting an international postdoctoral fellowship from TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye).

My publications include evaporation dynamics, prediction of evaporation, river flow, and drought indices. I have studied ontologies in the hydrology domain and information systems related to hydrometeorological disasters. My ongoing works include satellite rainfall data augmentation and forecast; harmful algal dynamics in lakes; snow drought and its environmental impacts; multidimensional agricultural drought susceptibility and risk assessment; index velocity data mining and forecast; and multidimensional agricultural sustainability quantification.  In 2022, I have received the EU Marie Sklodowska Curie Action (MSCA) Seal of Excellence in 2021, scoring 86 with the WaterReCycle acronym proposal.

I work as a postdoctoral researcher on the NSF-funded project "Novel integration of direct measurements with numerical models for real-time estimation and forecasting of streamflow response to cyclical processes". I also work as a co-PI on two University of Iowa projects on agricultural sustainability index quantification by multi-criteria analysis and determination of harmful algal blooms’ dynamics, development of a web platform harmful algal blooms in lakes.
