Core Responsibilities

  • Oversees and directs activities related to Electric Operations System Emergency Assignment training and functional exercises which includes scheduling, tracking compliance, issuing status reports and managing curriculum revisions.
  • Works closely with Emergency Preparedness, Information Technology, The Learning Center and support organizations to evaluate appropriateness of storm response training and functional exercise curriculums.
  • Recommends training and functional exercise enhancements, technology solutions and the development of eLearning to ensure skill proficiency and compliance with the company's Electric Response Plan (ERP).
  • Works closely with internal organizations to facilitate the timely mobilization of Electric Operations SEAs prior to and during storm events.
  • Develops storm response process flows, white papers, information request responses, procedures, polices, guidelines, training and functional exercises as deemed necessary.
  • Facilitates standardization of mutual assistance onboarding training and functional exercises across all internal organizations and O&R.
  • Recommends appropriate training and functional exercises to be developed and or scheduled for required storm response personnel based upon organizational needs, technology enhancements, and/or distribution system upgrades.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, effective presentation skills, robust organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and resolve multiple and varied issues.
  • Serves as a champion of organizational change and supports Climate Change Resiliency initiatives.
  • Works closely with Electric Operations SEA Coordinators to ensure all new members to electric operations have an appropriate SEA assignment.
  • Conducts benchmarking with peer utilities to evaluate and determine industry best practices related to storm response processes and readiness training. Evaluate applicability for CECONY and ORU and where relevant recommend for adoption.
  • Ensure safety is a key component of all storm training. Discussions on storm response hazards, tools and approaches to identity and mitigate injuries to employees, customers and the public should be topics included during training.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree and 2 years Electric Operations or related work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years Electric Operations or related work experience or
  • Associate's Degree and 5 years Electric Operations or related work experience

Relevant Work Experience

  • 2 years Experience supervising management, union and/or contractors. Required and
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with both internal and external customers, contractors and various levels of management. Required and
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and be able to render sound business decisions. Required and
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to engage personnel, drive for results, and strong decision making. Required and
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be committed to providing exemplary customer service. Required and
  • Must have strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Required and
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to influence positive outcomes. Required and

  • Must be well organized, detailed oriented, demonstrate high energy level, be innovative, flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet stringent deadlines. Required and
  • Demonstrated administrative skill with solid teamwork orientation. Required and
  • Knowledge of STAR, Microsoft Teams, eTrain and TLC Portal. Preferred and
  • Knowledge of CECONY Electric Emergency Response Plans. Preferred and
  • Knowledge of Storm Response Processes. Preferred
