We are seeking an Associate to join our Boston team.

This person will report to the Director, ODD (Boston) and will be responsible for conducting ODD reviews of external investment managers; the role may also involve assisting in performing sanctions screening and background check investigations.

The newly appointed individual will work alongside the Investment teams, Legal and Compliance teams, as well as other Operational teams within the Firm.

This position will be a hybrid work arrangement.

What you will do:

  • Assist with coordination and setup of ODD calls with the ODD team and GPs, as required
  • Perform initial due diligence reviews of investment managers, as well as ongoing monitoring
  • Perform interviews with C suite level operations personnel; review and assess infrastructure, controls, compliance, and valuation processes
  • Coordinate with GPs for all ODDs performed, to verify third party auditor and fund administrator relationships
  • Discuss completed due diligence reports with the ODD team and Investment teams
  • Stay ahead of market developments in local jurisdictions, industry trends and regulatory matters
  • Assist in the collection, review and organization of background check/sanctions screening documentation, as advised
  • Engage with external background check providers and thirdparty firms
  • Build strong working relationships with investment and operational teams within HarbourVest and raise issues as necessary
  • Work with the ODD and technology teams on systems enhancements and user acceptance testing
  • Assist senior management with ODD projects as needed
  • Encourage a teamorientated atmosphere with positive engagement
  • Other responsibilities as required

What you bring:

  • Background in ODD, investment accounting/audit, compliance, or risk management
  • Understanding of operational controls and risk strategies related to private equity organizations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, being able to communicate effectively with all levels of management both internally and externally
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to interact across departments and establish relationships in order to source requisite information and documentary evidence
  • Positive teamoriented demeanor
Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience, preferably in a financial services environment
