Overview:
Gift of Hope is proud to serve as the federally designated not-for-profit organ procurement organization (OPO) that coordinates organ and tissue donation and provides compassionate service to families of donors in the northern three-quarters of Illinois and northwest Indiana.
Since our inception in 1986, we have coordinated donations that have saved the lives of more than 23,000 organ transplant recipients, and improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of tissue transplant recipients.
As one of 58 organ procurement organizations that make up the nation's organ donation system, we work with 183 hospitals in our donation service area.
Summary
Support Community Outreach Department in coordinating tasks that support the efforts of a variety of projects, programs, campaigns or events throughout the DSA to increase organ and tissue donation
The salary range for this position is $51,356-$57,775 annually
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
The following essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Advance Gift of Hope's mission, vision and core values: providing compassionate service, contributing outstanding teams and engaging as one of our passionate people committed to a positive culture that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
- Develop and implement programs/projects and special events with community partners ; foster participation by Ambassadors for Hope volunteer members and Gift of Hope staff Support coordination of a minimum of four (4) signature events per year
- Create expense reports, organize food expenses for community events, and own administrative duties for Community Outreach
- Maintain, manage, develop and analyze program data and databases
- Support marketing, outreach campaigns, grassroots programs, and special events to provide education on organ/tissue donation
- Contribute to general market website, social media and intranet communications
- Attend program and campaign meetings at a variety of community/workplace locations within Gift of Hope's service area
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and Training Required
The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Bachelor's degree in community relations, business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Experience and Skills Required
The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.
- 2 years' related experience in community relations or notforprofit public relations, preferably in a healthcare environment
- Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Salesforc
- Minimum of 3 years of volunteer or community outreach experience
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to community specific cultural issues
- Excellent speaking, writing, proofreading and editing skills
- Ability to represent Gift of Hope in a professional manner
- Ability to speak publicly before a wide variety of audiences to motivate and inspire others
Physical Demands

- Ability to drive personal car to offsite locations to perform job functions
- Ability to work outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift and move 30 pounds
- Ability to spend extensive time travelling across designated service area
- Ability to use personal cell phone for business purposes
