Expectations:
The Nurse Practitioner, Hospitalist assumes a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services to patients, fostering close collaboration with board-certified/eligible physicians.
This role encompasses the diagnosis of illnesses, formulation and management of treatment plans, prescription of medications, engagement in clinical research, provision of advice on preventative health care, and the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests and exams.
Serving as a principal healthcare provider, the Nurse Practitioner seamlessly integrates independent decision-making with collaborative efforts alongside the supervising physician, ensuring the delivery of expert care.
The Nurse Practitioner, Hospitalist coordinates and case manages the patient through the full continuum of care, orchestrating patient flow through a comprehensive care plan, working to ensure that care is appropriate, timely, authorized, and conducted in the most appropriate setting, and coordinates patient care, serving as the liaison between Hospital Physicians, Hospitalists, and Emergency Department Physicians resources.
EDUCATION:
Master of Science degree in Nursing from an N.L.N. accredited graduate school of nursing required.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
2-3 years Inpatient Nurse Practitioner experience working alongside Hospitalists required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by State of California
Current unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) with Furnishing License issued by State of California
Current National Provider Number (NPI) issued by Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number issued by DEA
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association
SKILLS:
Must be able to work independently and with a team. Patient-focused. Excellent customer service skills with patients, families, physicians and staff. Able to project a positive self-image and be self-motivated.
