    Position Summary


    As an academic medical center with a rich history of providing life-saving treatment in Southern Nevada, UMC serves as the anchor hospital of the Las Vegas Medical District, offering Nevada's highest level of care to promote successful medical outcomes for patients.


    We are home to Nevada's ONLY Level I Trauma Center, Designated Pediatric Trauma Center, Burn Care Center, and Transplant Center.

    Position Summary:
    Prepares patients for, and assists with, oscopy surgical procedures.

    Job Requirement


    Education/Experience:
    Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of experience as an Oscopy Technician.


    Licensing/Certification Requirements:
    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

    APPLICANTS WHO DOCUMENT THE FOLLOWING WILL RECEIVE PREFERENCE:

    • Three years (3) years recent (within the last four (4) years) experience in a fast-paced, busy Endoscopy/OR environment is preferred
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements


    Knowledge of:


    Medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; pharmacology; sterilization; aseptic techniques; environmental safety methods; wound dressing techniques; patient positioning for special procedures; skin preparations for surgery; surgical equipment; legal and ethical responsibilities; patient draping; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; specific uses of oscopy equipment and supplies; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; infection control policies and practices; age specific patient care practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.


    Skill in:


    Setting up backtable; assisting with laser surgery; anticipating surgeon needs; establishing and maintaining aseptic conditions; identifying patient emergency situation and instituting proper procedures in response; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.


    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:


    Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and VDT screens, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone.

    Strength and agility to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
