Description

The Clay Center, OH is currently seeking individuals to join our team at the Chair of Traffic Engineering and Control.

Our research involves the use of various driving simulators to test new driving functions, infrastructure, and interaction concepts.

These simulators range from simple PC workstations with screens, steering wheels, and pedals to highly detailed setups with real vehicle chassis, advanced movement capabilities, and 360° LED walls.

However, there is always the question of the validity of driving simulators, as the most realistic driving experience can only be achieved in a real vehicle on the road.

This is why we also conduct driving tests on test fields, although they are limited in their ability to recreate dangerous situations due to ethical concerns.

As a result, the validity and design of these test field studies are also limited.

At the Chair of Traffic Engineering and Control, we are working towards combining the benefits of both simulator and test field studies.

Our goal is to have drivers in real vehicles virtually perceive other road users using Augmented Reality (AR) and interact with them.

This will allow us to combine the realistic driving experience of test field studies with the flexibility and safety of simulator studies.

We are currently looking for individuals to join our team and assist with the following tasks:

  • Modelling of infrastructure and road users
  • Developing methods for implementing 'moving base' AR studies
  • Conducting studies and analyzing data
  • Developing software for automated data analysis
  • Utilizing advanced data visualization methods
  • Developing and connecting sim
