Applicants Must provide a DMV (H-6) driving record containing NO DUI convictions within the past five years, and no moving violations within the last three years.
SIPA History and Mission:
Founded in 1972, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) is a non-profit, community-based social service organization providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Pilipino American and other immigrant, ethnic and low-income communities, with a particular focus on Los Angeles' Historic Filipinotown.
SIPA's services include children, youth and family programs, affordable housing, small business assistance and the facilitation of collaborative actions to meet the needs of the community.
SIPA enriches and empowers generations of Pilipino Americans and others by providing health and human services, community economic development, arts and culture, and a place where all people of all backgrounds can come together to strengthen community.
Position Summary:
This position is in-person and will require driving between SIPA's Office located in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles, CA called HiFi Collective and various community locations to pick up students.
As the SIPA Van Driver, you will communicate with youth and parents during pickups and drop offs, follow route and schedules, and represent SIPA for many of our families.
You will report to the Youth Programs Manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
80% Van Management and Student Transportation
- Perform beginningshift vehicle inspections before departure
- Complete bus route on schedule while stopping at all stops
- Assist students with disabilities during embarking and disembarking
- Safely transport goods and passengers
- Report all mechanical issues to service manager immediately
- Obey all traffic laws
- Maintain a clean and sanitary van at all times
- Support office staff with event set ups and breakdowns
- Load and offload supplies from HFC to other SIPA locations for events
- Transport food boxes to other SIPA sites for community food distribution
- Complete additional safety training
- Participation on SIPA equity strategy including trainings & activities, and upholding policies
