The Gray lab is looking to hire in technical support staff to assist with ongoing laboratory experiments using cell lines and animal models (i.e. mouse), micro CT imaging, and molecular biology approaches.

The position will end 4/30/2025, with the potential of extension based on performance and funding.

Purpose


Provides skills and knowledge for performing various technical laboratory duties in the operation and maintenance of an experimental laboratory and research project in the life sciences.

Responsible for the performance of technical laboratory duties under the direction of the supervising staff and faculty member. Experience with standard laboratory experiments including PCR, molecular cloning, genotyping and cell culture. Prepares laboratory animal specimens and experience working with animal models and operation of standard laboratory equipment. Collects and records data and performs mathematical tasks involved in making media and summarizing results of experiments. Prepares reagents and culture media. Performs related administrative duties as required.


Responsibilities:


  • Mouse husbandry and MicroCT imaging
  • Perform or oversees general lab duties (autoclaving, dishes, making solutions) and administrative duties (e.g. ordering and EH&S compliance)
  • Cell culture
  • Histology and molecular biology


Required Qualifications- Experience with mouse handling and PCR genotyping is required.- Experience with histology and cloning is desired.- Must be willing to help with the management of lab duties and perform specific administrative task such as EHS compliance, ordering and assisting with mouse colony management.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cell culture techniques is a plus, but training will be provided.

Salary Range

$36,000 + depending on qualifications


Working Conditions- May work around chemicals.- May work around standard laboratory conditions.- May work around standard office conditions.- Use of manual dexterity.- May work around biohazards.- Repetitive use of keyboard at workstation.- Repetitive use of laboratory equipment including liquid handling and microscopes.

Work Shift- Normal working hours, but may require some nights and weekends.
