    Position Type: Title 1/Reading Recovery Teacher FTE 1.0
    Location: 0.5 Pepper Ridge / 0.5 Parkside Elementary
    FTE: 1.0

    Qualifications / Certification:

  • NCLB (No Child Left Behind) Highly Qualified Criteria
  • Illinois Standard Teaching Certificate - Elementary
  • Master's Degree in Reading
  • Reading Specialist endorsement required
  • Reading Recovery trained, or willing to take the Reading Recovery training in school year.


    • Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand the goals of the Illinois Partnerships in Comprehensive Literacy (IPCL) model and commit to implementing it with depth and fidelity
  • Attend year-long Reading Recovery training including courses through NLU provided by our Reading Recovery Teacher Leaders
  • Attend training for all literacy interventions
  • Instruct first grade students in Reading Recovery and maintain appropriate records.
  • Provide Tier II and/or Tier III literacy interventions in a variety of settings/grade levels and maintain appropriate records
  • Maintain the literacy instructional support program appropriate to each school setting and the learners served
  • Fulfill all Title 1 grant requirements and maintain required documentation and records
  • Create an environment of trust and respect through collaboration with coaches, staff, and administration
  • Foster an ongoing culture for instructional improvement in literacy
  • Provide leadership in the implementation of IPCL best instructional practices
  • Collect and analyze school data to assess and inform teaching and learning
  • Show professionalism, including integrity, and confidentiality
  • Maintain inventory of resources provided through Title I funds

    • Compensation:
    Fully Board Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision available

    Per the negotiated contract between McLean County Unit 5 and the United Five Education Association, for the school year the starting salary range for candidates with a Bachelor's Degree is $41,820-$56,066 and is based upon Education and Certified Teaching experience. Candidates with a Master's Degree is $46,820 - $67,214 and is based upon Education and Certified Teaching experience.
