Job Summary:

This position will facilitate the successful operation of the Residential Care Department.

The Resident Services Director supervises other associates and coordinates Resident Care Programs to comply with state regulations and Policy and Procedures.


Job Duties:

Essential Functions

  • Support the mission, vision, and culture of the organization through positive communication and leadership.
  • Contribute to Community relationships by demonstrating cooperation and professional conduct with residents, families, fellow associates, physicians, pharmacies and other vendors or persons.
  • Contribute to team effort by being flexible in work assignments, by furnishing support by taking initiative; and by understanding how this position affects and compliments all other Community positions.
  • Able to maintain work pace appropriate to given work load. Perform activities on schedule while maintaining regular attendance and punctuality within specified tolerance.
  • Supervise resident care staff, provide training, set and adjust rates of pay and hours of work, provide formal and informal performance feedback, recognize both appropriate and inappropriate behaviors/performances through rewards and discipline, and apportion work among subordinates.
  • Interview residents and families prior to admission and coordinate preadmission screening and assessment.
  • Evaluate resident care needs and determine required level of care upon admission and changes in condition.
  • Maintain clear records of all resident changes, requests, and irregularities.
  • Update medical charts and care plan.
  • Observe residents' health status and take actions to address concerns within scope of practice.
  • Record and notify Executive Director, physician, pharmacist, and family of any significant changes to resident's health status and/or reactions to drugs, treatments, or significant incidents.
  • Order medications from pharmacy, maintain records, and ensure that medications are properly stored and cared for.
  • Interview and test job applicants.
  • Continually assess resident needs in relation to associate training needs to determine priorities in designing an ongoing orientation program.
  • Ensure that all new employees receive general and specific job training.
  • Incorporate State Department of Social/Facility Services/ Public Welfare/Licensure requirements during inservice training and orientation.
  • Participate in New Hire Orientation program and other regular associate meetings or functions.
  • Monitor and maintain records of immunizations requirements for associates and residents.
  • Track and ensure regulatory training requirements are met for associates annually.

  • Respond appropriately to changes in the work setting.
  • Be familiar with Policies & Procedures Manual and Pacifica Associate Handbook.
  • Perform other related assignments as required.
  • Attend required inservice training.
  • Be willing and able to work in any resident care position.
  • Conduct tours.

  • Observe standard precaution procedures and all safe workplace measures.
  • Report any suspected or observed abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property or funds of a resident to the appropriate licensing agencies.
  • Operate department within budget.

Job Specifications:

Skill

  • This position requires current state license as an RN/ LPN where applicable.
  • This position also requires 23 years of supervisory experience, prior care experience in an assisted living community or skilled nursing facility, and valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of State Assisted Living Regulations.
  • Able to speak, read, write and understand the English language fluently.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel for assessments and other outreach, automobile insurance as required by law and a valid driver's license.
