SUMMARY:
Applies complex principles of finance to analyze past and present financial operations and estimates future revenues and expenditures to prepare budget.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred to project future revenues and expenses, using computer.
Advise management on matters, such as effective use of resources and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Interpret budgets to management.
Assist in financial analysis of legislative projects to develop capital improvement budget.
May assist communities to develop budget and efficient use of funds.
Provide functional advice or training to less experienced financial analyst jobs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years progressive responsibility preferably in corporate accounting or finance in the areas of business data analytics and handling multiple projects at various lifecycle stages.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:
Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
Proficiency at problem solving and a critical understanding of dashboard application, data mining, sequel coding, statistical modeling and various reporting tools such as Tableau and Power BI a plus.
COMPETENCIES:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to prepare, monitor and administer budgets, as well as the ability to perform financial analysis. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines. Ability to develop, improve and streamline processes to meet established goals and objectives. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to gather, interpret, report and/or edit information. Ability to compile, review and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness and compliance. Knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related professional/company standards as well as applicable federal, state and/or local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
