Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Prepares the financial and operating budget. Prepares, implements, and monitors financial projections for the month and year. Quantifies all business operations and ensures that financial and operational expectations are clearly set with and communicated to department managers.
  • Ensures billing accuracy. Ensures invoices are accurate, timely, and clear to promote the proper reporting of earned revenue and prompt payment by customers.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet: Monthly reconciles all aspects of the balance sheet and assists the CFO in preparation of monthly financial reports for review by management.
  • Ensures the proper payment of taxes: Prepares monthly Delaware Gross Receipts Tax and makes sure all payroll tax jurisdictions are being properly followed and remitted by the payroll servicer.
  • Provides analyses of Financial/Operational results. Evaluates the operations of the business, identifies variances to the expectations in the Budget. Meets with the CFO to go over recommendations to align the expenses within the budget parameters.
  • Monitors payroll. Ensures all employees are paid on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Manages risk. Evaluates risks to the business and take steps to reduce their occurrence and impact. Implements and maintains sufficient insurance to protect the organization, its management and staff against risks arising from its operation
  • Protects the assets. Ensures adequate controls are in place to protect Company assets from theft, damage, or unauthorized use.
  • Staff supervision: hires, trains, mentors, and directly supervises staff engaged in financial, insurance, and related financial or administrative functions, which currently includes the Bookkeeper, Accounts Receivable Specialist, and Billing Specialist.
  • Capital expenditures: evaluates requests for capital expenditures, quantifies their impact on the Company, and works closely with Management to allocate capital in an efficient manner.
  • Shareholder relations: prepare and distribute reports to the CFO for monthly meetings
  • Special projects: executes any special requests or projects as assigned by the CFO
  • Seeks to improve productivity and results daily.
  • Follows all Company safety rules and operating procedures, practices and guidelines.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned by Management.

Requirements:


  • BS/BA in Accounting from a 4year, USbased, accredited college or university
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local financial reporting and tax laws/regulations.
  • 510 years of experience managing the financial function and staff of a privatelyheld company as Assistant Controller or equivalent.
  • Financial management experience with a construction or mechanical services company.
  • Skilled with Sage, QuickBooks and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.
  • Experience using one or more CRM systems.
  • No restrictions or requirements preventing the ability to work in the US for any US company.

Physical demands:


The ability to walk around an office, climb and descend stairs, work in a seated position at a desk for hours at a time, operate computers, open file cabinets, bend/stand as necessary, drive to and from meetings, and to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
