Role

It Takes A Village is seeking a dedicated and skilled Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be instrumental in ensuring our facilities are well-maintained, clean, and safe. Your work will support our mission by providing a welcoming and healthy environment conducive to learning and growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform routine cleaning tasks daily such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming and disposing of trash from designated areas within the school.

Ensure that restrooms are clean, stocked with supplies (such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels), and in good working order.

Handle minor maintenance tasks including chaining light bulbs and repairing minor damages.

Assist in setting up facilities for events, meetings, and various school activities.
-
Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
-
Manage supply inventory and submit requests for new cleaning supplies as needed.
-
Report any major repairs or safety concerns to the facility manager promptly.
-
Positively engage with students, staff, and visitors, addressing their needs, responding to inquiries, and offering assistance to enhance their experience within the facility.

Location:
Bronzeville, South Loop, Austin, and Oak Park (Communities in Chicago, IL.)


Position Type:
Full-Time


Required Education and Experience
-
Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar role preferred.

Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, and safety protocols.

Certifications in workplace maintenance and safety are preferred.
-
Ability to perform physical tasks consistently and lift moderate weights.
-
Good organizational and communication skills.
-
Must have a current and valid driver's license.
