    Position Title: Community Outreach Coordinator

    Department: Behavioral Health

    Salary Grade: 4014 Per Class Code

    Position Status: Full-Time

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Position Summary

    This position is focused on carrying out Community Outreach events, establishing goals and objectives related to the identified needs of the Santa Clara Pueblo. The primary goal is to serve community members who are at high risk and to initiate, participate in and implement culturally appropriate activities that will meet the needs of the community. This position will be focused on implementation of community awareness and will report to the Santa Clara Behavioral Health Director.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Schedules and promotes community forums, youth groups, focus groups, special events, and prepares, reviews, and distributes educational materials.
    • Develops and maintains resources such as books, printed materials, videos, and other media and makes them available for use by community members.
    • Coordinates dates, times, and locations of training meetings and distributes notices/announcements to the community.
    • Provides technical assistance and support for group meetings and public forums.
    • Performs other office support duties.
    • Meets regularly with Behavioral Health Program Director for supervision and program coordination including planning, development, implementing prevention activities, and reporting requirements.
    • Responsible for accurate & timely reporting to Behavioral Health Program Director.
    • Will coordinate all activities including conferences, workshops, public events, trainings and for the programs.
    • Required to work cooperatively as a team member and offer solutions when presenting concerns.
    • Plan, develop, update, and implement educational information related to suicide prevention and substance misuse.
    • Assist in completing goals and objectives related to all funding grants.
    • Will maintain confidentiality and follow all HIPPA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines to assure the security of all records, documents, personal contact, and potential client information. Any confidential information obtained will not be re-disclosed and will be protected per federal law.
    • Contributes to a team effort.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of Tribal and department policies and procedures.
    • Knowledge of tribal, federal, and state laws and regulations related to the area of grant requirements.
    • Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights.
    • Skill in collecting, grouping, organizing information.
    • Skill in building group consensus to meet objectives through give and take.
    • Effective listening, speaking, and writing skills.
    • Ability to perform computer skills such as specialized grant software, word processing, software applications, advanced accounting software, email, internet, and spreadsheets.
    • Ability to perform duties under stressful and adverse conditions, such as long work hours, and emergency situations.
    • Ability to deal with employees and community members regarding sensitive, confidential information.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet project deadlines and prioritize workload; and
    • Ability to set priorities and plan the sharing of limited resources needed for competing projects and analyze project performance relative to given objectives.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Must have an AA in psychology, sociology, or a related field or two years of experience in community liaison/outreach work with a Native American community.
    • Must have computer skills such as specialized grant software, word processing, software applications, email, internet and spreadsheets.
