Addiction Services and Pharmacotherapy


The Dispensing Nurse-RN is responsible for providing direct medical care of patients enrolled in Narcotic Maintenance Treatment by dispensing medications as prescribed, processing urine drug screens, performing phlebotomy, conducing EKGs, and assisting with admission and annual physicals.

Job Functions:


  • Prepares and accurately administers medication as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physicians.
  • Keeps accurate records of all medications received into the clinic and medications dispensed to patients.
  • Accurately documents in patients records
  • Objectively assesses patients for the effect(s) of opioid maintenance therapy, impairment, and opioid withdrawal.
  • Ensures the safe keeping of all controlled substances on site in accordance with DEA, FDA and other Federal and State regulations and CARF guidelines.
  • Is responsible for the collection of urine drug screens, testing urine samples and recording and/or verifying the results of urine drug screens as ordered by the Medical Director or Program Physician.
  • Participates in the admission of new patients as needed by collecting an accurate medical history, administering and reading tuberculosis skin tests.
  • Is responsible for the protection of the rights and confidentiality of all patients that are served. Will ensure that all patients are treated with respect, dignity and free from any discrimination.
  • Works with other nursing staff to ensure a clean and safe medication room and dosing environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/ Licensure/ Experience

  • Minimum of an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse.
  • 2 years nursing experience in an outpatient setting preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Working knowledge or willingness to learn and understanding of addiction treatment
  • The ability to effectively communicate with respect and courtesy
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office based programs
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. and an ability to move throughout the clinic premises
  • Ability to change positions from sitting to standing multiple times throughout the day without pain or difficulty.

Work Hours

  • PRN, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
  • Monday
  • Friday 4:30am to 1:00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday 5:30am9:30am

Work Location

  • One location, large break room with kitchen

Salary:
$31-36 per hour


Pay:
$ $36.00 per hour


Physical setting:

  • Outpatient

Standard shift:

  • Day shift

Weekly schedule:

  • Monday
to Friday

  • Weekends as needed
