    Overview

    Job Summary: Responsible for building and delivering food trays to patients, processing meal requests and diet orders through the computer system, and providing prompt and accurate service to customers using point-of-service operations. Interacts with patients, employees, medical staff, and customers both over the phone and in person.

    Education: High School Diploma or GED in General Studies

    Certifications and Licensures: None required

    Experience: 2+ years in Food Service (preferred)

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to read and follow instructions.
    • General knowledge of cleaning methods, food service equipment, and food preparation.
    • Moderate physical labor capability.
    • Strong customer service, communication, and basic math/cash handling skills.
    • Basic computer skills; ability to learn new software programs.
    • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve.

    Job Specific Duties:

    1. Food Preparation: Assists with cold food production, baking, and grill relief.
    2. Transportation of Goods: Transports items between storeroom, kitchen, retail, and service equipment.
    3. Tray Preparation: Prepares trays for patients based on meal tickets and for retail customers.
    4. Sanitation & Cleaning: Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, utensils, work areas, and dishes.
    5. Delivers/Returns Trays: Delivers trays to patient rooms and returns dirty trays to the dish room.
    6. Order Entry: Enters patient diet orders and meal/snack orders into the computer system.
    7. Nourishment Delivery: Organizes and delivers nourishment supplies to units as ordered.
    8. Cash Register Operation: Accepts customer payments and maintains a balanced cash drawer.
    9. Conflict Resolution: Resolves concerns and complaints from customers or refers to a supervisor as appropriate.
    10. Professionalism: Upholds a professional working relationship, practices teamwork, and adheres to Standards of Behavior.

    Other Duties: Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

    Workplace Requirements:

    • Compliance with employee health programs and required screenings.
    • Maintenance of current licensures, certifications, and/or registrations.
    • Completion of job-specific competency testing.
    • Adherence to Corporate Compliance, Environment of Care, and HIPAA Compliance Plans.

    Physical and Behavioral Requirements:

    • Involves frequent physical activities such as stooping, walking, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
    • Medium physical force is required.
    • Visual acuity, ability to speak and hear are essential.
    • Successful completion of pre-employment demands test.
