The purpose of the Assistant Custodian is to maintain an attractive, sanitary, safe facility for students, staff, and the public.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follows job related instructions given by the PrincipalResponsible for assist in overseeing any minor repairsResponsible for devising a plan for the cleaning of each office or room in his/her building on a daily basis, such as dusting, vacuuming, washing windows, waxing floors and shampooing carpetMaintains safe atmosphere for students and persons working in building as well as visitorsAssist with ordering materials necessary for the upkeep of the building while staying within his/her assigned budgetKeeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat and clean at all timesAfter opening the building each day at the designated time, checks to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of occupancyBefore leaving each day at the designated time, secures all doors and windows, and turns off lights except those left on for security reasonsCleans restrooms and drinking fountains daily according to health department regulationsCleans classrooms and corridors dailyRemoves trash and rubbish from campus daily; cuts grass weekly and trims shrubbery as neededCares for plants and shrubs inside as well as outside the buildingMoves furniture and equipment within the building as directed by the PrincipalAdheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state & federal rules & regulationsEngages in professional growth & demonstrates professional ethics & leadershipPerforms other duties as assigned
