    Job Description

    The Adult Education Instructor, Barista/Fountain Worker (Food & Beverage) will be responsible for delivering hands-on training for CALV's barista and fountain worker program. The instructor will develop engaging lesson plans using various teaching techniques. This role involves training on table greets, order taking, cash handling, POS operation, restaurant hosting, and customer service. Additionally, the instructor will create curricula, online courses, and course materials to support student success.

    The F&B instructor will collaborate with other instructors and professionals to design training programs for youth, adults, and displaced workers in the hospitality industry. This position reports to the Dean of Education & Learning Support Services.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and instruct students on POS Operation, Cash Handling, and hospitality principles
    • Teach coffee, espresso, and tea preparation
    • Cover table greeting, food and drink service, and proper service techniques
    • Manage student schedules and maintain service standards
    • Ensure sanitation protocols are followed
    • Develop relationships with other CALV Departments
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

    • 5+ years' experience in food and beverage
    • 3+ years in a supervisory role in a restaurant with fountain worker experience
    • Knowledge of service sequences in different environments
    • Experience in training baristas/fountain workers
    • Knowledge of adult-learning principles
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION:

    • Health Card (Southern Nevada Health District)
    • ServSafe Manager Certification
    • Current Alcohol Awareness certification
    • Must pass background check

    Work schedule is flexible, including nights and weekends.

    PHYSICAL DEMAND:

    • Ability for 2-way communication with the public and staff
    • Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods
    • Able to work under pressure and in varying environments
    • May include offsite and outdoor events
