Job Summary:


Under the oversight of the Center Manager, Stabilization Center Advocates (SCA) are responsible for providing front-line services to clients of the Crisis Stabilization Center.

Stabilization Center Advocates are available as a resource to clients throughout the day and night, including orienting new individuals to the shelter, mediating interpersonal conflict, providing information regarding other services and resources, and productively addressing problems if they arise.


Essential Duties

  • Complete intake information professionally and accurately while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Create a welcoming environment for clients.
  • Treat clients with respect, dignity, care, and kindness
  • Work effectively as a team member, practice active listening
  • Provide clients with referrals and information about social services, housing, and other programs.
  • Communicate shelter rules and policies: set limits with clients as appropriate.
  • Identify and intervene productively in emergency situations.
  • Work individually and as a member of the center team.
  • Sweep, mop, wipe surfaces, take out trash, and perform other cleaning tasks as required to maintain a safe and sanitary environment throughout the shift.
  • Assist with laundry and other facility and operation upkeep tasks as needed.
  • Monitor all areas, including sleeping areas and restrooms, periodically throughout the
night.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

o Work in collaboration with team members and all other agency staff to facilitate a team environment.

  • Demonstrate and model effective communication skills in building relationships with all clients and employees.
  • Create good working relationships with other service providers.
  • Strive to reduce barriers to housing, shelter, and services.

Qualifications

  • Genuine desire to work with people experiencing crisis.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff and clients from various backgrounds.
  • Belief that shelter is a human right and that allowing individuals to access emergency
shelter when they need it should be a top priority.

  • Ability and willingness to work effectively and professionally with clients displaying a wide range of challenging, unpleasant, and/or unusual behavior.
  • Basic word processing skills and computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to compose thorough and accurate incident reports and other documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent minimum, Associates degree preferred in related field
  • Reading, writing
  • Basic English comprehension, written and oral communication.
  • Availability to work first, second and third shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Pay:
$ $19.00 per hour
