Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.

The Team Member we are searching for


The ideal Inclusion Specialist believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success.

What you will need to accomplish:_**- Instruct and serve students whose needs have been identified in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) developed by the IEP team

  • Inform and assist students with disabilities and their parents
  • Consult on resource information and material regarding students with disabilities to parents and general education staff members
  • Coordinate special education services with the regular school programs for each student with disabilities enrolled in the resource program
  • Monitor student progress on a daily basis
  • Co-Plan/ Co-Teach/Direct Service Model
  • Provide behavior support, basic academic skills, organization and study skills, social skills, and use of cognitive strategies
  • Organize classroom systems/procedures and manage student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning
  • Establish an environment where students are excited about learning and preparing for college
  • Prepare lesson plans for substitutes, if needed
  • Build strong relationships with students and parents
  • Communicate with parents/guardians on a weekly basis
  • Identify each student's areas for improvement and work with the student, family, and internal resources to suggest options for improvement
  • Provide continual assessment of student progress, maintain student records and portfolios, and complete assigned paperwork in provided timeframes
  • Collaborate with the teachers to meet the needs of all students
  • Attend and participate in Academic Success Team, Parent/Teacher Advisory Council, and other schoolbased meetings and activities
  • Perform disseminated leadership duties
  • Attend and implement professional development training throughout and beyond the school year
  • Detailoriented when tracking students' grades, attendance, etcetera
  • Work with the Principal, Assistant Principal, and the Director of Professional Development to ensure teaching methods are directed towards meeting and surpassing the standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

_ What do we require from you?_

Minimum Qualifications

Education:


  • Possession of a valid Preliminary or Clear Education Specialist Instruction Credential
    OR:
  • University Internship Credential eligible (Intern eligibility letter required)
    OR:
  • Satisfy Basic Skills Requirement (met through coursework and/or passing scores on standardized tests i.e., CBEST, SAT, ACT, etc.)

Experience:


  • Previous experience and knowledge of State and Federal guidelines for Special Education

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation
  • Proficient with

Microsoft Suite:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity
  • Must be flexible and teamoriented
  • Able to multitask in a fastpaced environment
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds.

To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below.

Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
