Duties and Responsibilities

Resident Services

  • Collect and assess each resident's employment history and skills within 30 days of admission; assist them to set appropriate short and long term vocational and employment objectives and monitor their progress toward same.
  • Arrange or facilitate resident's enrollment in appropriate employment readiness/training activities and monitor resident's progress in same
  • Coordinate and conduct the Job Readiness class and mock interviews.
  • Assess each resident's legal history and criminal background within 30 days of admission and, as appropriate, refer to legal resources for possible record expungement.
  • Act as liaison to Department of Rehabilitative Services or other vocational service providers for residents receiving or eligible for services.
  • Provide coaching to employed residents to help maintain longterm employment and troubleshoot areas of concern in job performance or satisfaction.
  • Closely coordinate with clinical team and participate in monthly resident reviews beginning at the month four review.
  • Work with supervisory staff to facilitate career development activities for Marian House residents and alumni.

Resources and Records

  • Maintain updated educational and employment resources and materials.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with educators, employers and employment training program personnel, using all community resources to access all vocational/training and employment opportunities for residents; seek relationships with new potential employers.
  • Maintain record of resident education and employment history, including progress notes, in accordance with accreditation standards.
  • Obtain employment verification for all new resident jobs and enter record in internal systems as directed.
  • Track and compile employment data in coordination with Supervisor.

General

  • Serve quarterly as weekend oncall staff in rotation with other fulltime personnel.
  • Cooperate in the agency's team approach to service provision by assuming responsibilities for program operation and house maintenance when needed. This will occasionally require presence outside regular business days and office hours.
  • Maintain and expand clinical expertise by taking advantage of workshops, conferences, and inservice opportunities that focus on homelessness, addiction, trauma, and other topics relevant to the Marian House client population.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Established skills in client engagement, teaching, resume development, and job development
  • BA or BS in education, human services, vocational services, or related field preferred.
  • Two years experience preferred.
  • Mature development of self as a professional with demonstrated knowledge of good work practices and of community resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a workload efficiently.
  • Maryland Drivers' license and reliable transportation for work.
  • Background and ability to understand, appreciate, and carry out the Marian House mission; interpersonal skills to engage staff and volunteers in doing same.
