The role:
Simulator Duty Team LeaderIn this role you will manage a team of operational engineers who maintain and support the simulator fleet with day to daycoverage on a 24/7 shift basis, in compliance with EASA and CAA regulatory requirements
What you'll do:
Maintain an effective working relationship with the Flight Operations training, Global Learning Academy and technical management teams in order to ensure simulator maintenance updates are reviewed, costed and implemented as required.
Responsible for monitoring defects, identifying obsolescence and ensuring the required fidelity of Flight Training as regulated by CS[1]FSTD(A) they will also manage the implementation of corrective actions and modifications to BA's fleet of full flight/fixed base simulatorsLeads technical fault investigation and correctionManage or assist procurement programmes/relocations and the technical aspects of new acquisitions for flight simulators, visual systems, SEP and ensure that all associated building facilities are providedManage a team to ensure a safe working environment compliant with Health & Safety legislation where the team deliver, maintainand support flight training devices which contribute to delivery of the training task for flight trainingManages a team to maintain and modify simulators to comply with serviceability and objective test requirements of the CAA andother regulatorsAdheres to the Quality System requirements detailed in the EASA document CS-FSTD(A)Provides technical training of engineers when requiredIdentify repetitive defects and create improvement plans to improve reliabilityDelivers serviceable simulators with over 99.
5% availability to the BAFT customer base with improving training hours per fault and timely defect clearance in accordance with the BAFT Quality SystemActs as the fire warden or building controller for the simulator site for evacuationsProvides customer service to the pilots and engineering teams who use the simulatorsOrders and chases spare parts to maintain simulators and SEP equipmentWhat you'll bring to British Airways:Ideally, 5 years' experience as a Simulator or Systems EngineerUnderstanding of the regulatory authority approval process for flight simulatorsExperience of maintaining and developing relationships with all areas of the flight simulator industry including regulators and suppliersExperience in managing a team in a regulatory, safety critical environmentIncorporated Engineer level with a broad experience of disciplines employed in flight simulationA thorough understanding of all simulator systems and how they interact is essential.
Ability to order A/C parts through EWSProvides ad-hoc training for BAFT external customers in the functional use and safe operation of simulatorsOperates simulators for commercial and non[1]commercial visitsYour experience:Engineering Degree, Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent experienceAvionics Apprenticeship or equivalentSignificant experience as a Simulator or Systems EngineerSimulator maintenance/software OEM trainingThoroughly conversant with all technical aspects of flight simulators and associated systemsThorough understanding of BA and CAA/EASA flight simulator standards requirementsUnderstanding of airline governance structures including familiarity with the regulatory requirements for flight crew and cabin crew trainingWhat we offer:We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play.
