Description

Summary

This position is for an Auditor within the Nevada National Guard, based in the United States Property and Fiscal Office (USPFO), Internal Review Division. The primary task is to conduct audits across various programs, evaluating their efficiency, efficacy, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.

Duties

Carry out audits on projects that are unique and require original assessments, involving significant judgment to develop audit plans and detailed fact-finding techniques. These projects may involve financial audits necessitating in-depth cost and price analysis methods. The scope of audit assignments often spans different organizational or functional areas, potentially requiring a team of auditors. Review background material to gather program insights and generate leads, which usually consist of broad government or GAO guidelines demanding a thorough understanding and interpretation of government auditing principles. Prepare audit programs utilizing advanced techniques.
Conduct entrance conferences with management officials at audit sites, elucidating the audit's purpose and procedures while addressing inquiries. Perform preliminary surveys to identify potential operational or financial management issues. Assess operating procedures and management practices of the entity. Develop audit lead sheets to pinpoint potential flaws in internal controls. Document survey outcomes following Comptroller General Standards. Execute audit steps in alignment with Comptroller General Standards and various audit techniques such as interviews, computer-assisted methods, statistical analysis, and questionnaires to collect, document, and summarize data. Create working papers and files conforming to Comptroller General Standards. Formulate audit reports highlighting discoveries, elucidating causal circumstances, and proposing corrective measures. Engage in discussions with activity-level officials to advocate the recommendations' value, with implementation as the ultimate goal. Conduct follow-up audits on previously agreed-upon findings, recommendations, and financial benefits from the prior audit. Report to the command on the status of corrective actions taken by functional units. Provide prompt, unscheduled troubleshooting support to prevent or rectify significant, high-profile issues. Undertake any other duties as assigned.
