    DESCRIPTION-

    CODING AUDITOR - HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT - REMOTE

    CODING AUDITOR - HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT - REMOTE

    Full-Time

    The CODING AUDITOR - HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT will have the following job responsibilities:

    • Address appeals and review needed information for insurance denials to facilitate expedient resolution and reimbursement.
    • Participates in mandated Medical Record Review processes.
    • Interprets and applies American Hospital Association (AHA) Official Coding Guidelines to articulate and support appropriate principal, secondary diagnoses and procedures.
    • Knowledge of discharge disposition and reimbursement outcomes.

    Other responsibilities include:

    • Adherence to Health Information Management (HIM) Coding policies.
    • Adherence to The Joint Commission (TJC) and other third party documentation guidelines in an effort to continually improve coding quality and accuracy.
    • Responsibility for maintaining coding certification and referencing current ICD-10 coding guidelines and regulatory changes.
    • Participates in performance improvement initiatives as assigned.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS-

    The CODING AUDITOR - HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT candidate must meet the following minimum job qualifications:

    Education

    • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management is preferred.

    Experience

    • A minimum of 10 or more years of progressively responsible and advanced experience in healthcare coding with a combined 2 years or more of auditing experience in either facility of professional services coding. Experience in all patient types as well as experience and knowledge of needed compliance criteria for all facility types is required.

    Certifications(s)

    • AAPC, AHIMA or Certified Coding credential (excludes apprenticeship classification)
