General Statement


The Student Life Assistant plays a pivotal role in shaping the vibrant and inclusive campus community in the Fuller Student Center (Fuller).

They are primarily responsible for supporting the Director and Assistant Director of Student Life and Leadership in their oversight of the student center and the student ID process.

The 03 provides effective management of the student center, coordinates programming in Fuller, and fosters an environment that promotes student community, to enhance the overall student experience.


All tasks and responsibilities will need an approachable and customer service focused person who also communicates effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including students, faculty, and staff.

  • Supervisor: Assistant Director of Student Life & Programming

Responsibilities:


The Student Life Assistant is responsible for:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Fuller Student Center, including: Open the building by turning on the lights, straightening up as needed, checking the Federal Work Study (FWS) schedule and shift reports from the previous day, activating music via Alexa, and opening the front desk window.
  • Complete rounds of the building hourly.
  • Submit and track Facilities work orders as needed for various building maintenance and upkeep.
  • Be available during the daily ID hours.
  • Support the Assistant Director with the implementation of the Student ID Processes by overseeing the daily printing of Student IDs, coordinating with various campus partners, and overseeing the process at new student orientation.
  • Assist with the management of office tasks, as it relates to the Federal Work Study staff, and the student center's equipment, furniture, and supplies.
  • Oversee the various tasks given to the Federal Work Study (FWS).
  • Organize and inventory all OSL supplies, including the management of the middle room, storage closet and cabinets, and the parking lot storage pod.
  • Support the development and implementation of student social events in the Fuller Student Center.
  • Develop and maintain a monthly social program calendar within Fuller to enhance visibility and foster a sense of community among the student body.
  • Manage the Fuller Bulltin Boards to promote QCC and community opportunities.
  • Manage the sign out and return process of the fire stick and Nintendo Switch controllers and games.
  • Exercise sound independent judgment and ability to coordinate office without an immediate supervisor or in response to emergencies.
  • Provide flexible, responsive, and high-quality service to all, be they students, community, or staff and continuously assessing processes and procedure and revising accordingly.
  • Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all races, genders, abilities, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications**- One to Two years (1-2) in an office setting.

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Experience managing a fastpaced environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a social center, i.e., YWCA, recreational center, etc.
  • Experience creating promotional material with Canva or other graphic design programs.
  • Knowledge of community college culture.
  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish, and/or other languages
