Description

Responsible for performing general and aseptic cleaning and sanitizing of areas such as patient rooms, auxiliary rooms and other specified areas throughout the hospital under the supervision of the environmental aide supervisor.

Performs duties in accordance with established schedules, technical and administrative policies/procedures.


Principal Accountabilities:


  • Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc.
  • Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
  • Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner.
  • Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
  • Removes all trash and linen within the hospital.
  • Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials.
  • Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area.
  • Reports any repairs to maintenance.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • AM604Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Up to three (3) years of prior experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting or a related field.

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
  • Experience in housekeeping in either a hospital or institutional setting.
