Under the direction of the Engineering Manager/Estimator, the Design Engineer II is responsible for creating 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials per project specifications and requirements while utilizing company standards and construction methods.
Work is primarily involved with the development or improvement of actual products or designs.Requirements:
You'll wear many hats, but a day in this role generally includes:
Collaborate with the client, engineering and project management teams, and production personnel.
Execute modeling, drawings, and cut list in SolidWorks and other applications without assistance.
Design with proper tolerancing.
Execute standards throughout work and continually drive to improve current standards.
Execute ECNs with an understanding of how requested changes affect the organization and customer.
Make technical presentations internally and for customers.
Establish timelines and adhere to them.
Design retail fixtures for cost effective manufacturing.
Identify and incorporate best practices that will improve productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability You'll Need
A successful Design Engineer II should have the skills and qualifications that fulfill the prerequisites of the position, including:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills.
Ability to troubleshoot, provide support, direction, and solutions.
Understand material characteristics, capabilities, limitations, and applications.
Knowledge of ERP system regarding item and BOM creation.
Demonstrates impeccable quality in all aspects of engineering.
Proficient in supporting multiple customers.
Proficient in RCS manufacturing methods and machinery capability.
Proficient in construction methods and design for manufacturability (DFM)/assembly (DFA).
Proficient in standard materials.
Proficient in calculating material yields.
Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as computer, copier, scanner, telephone and be familiar with Microsoft Office, company modeling software (SolidWorks), and company ERP system (CSI).
