Your Role


The Innovation Analyst, Consultant is responsible for supporting the improvement and maintenance of our integrated enterprise strategy to execution process and supporting initiatives designed to provide strategic thought leadership to business leaders across the enterprise to address ambiguous problems and opportunities.

This role will serve as a change agent, leveraging a consistent and disciplined approach to strategy and innovation to design dynamic yet enduring strategies and strategic plans.

Under the guidance of Strategy and Innovation leadership, this role will use data-driven insights, executive stakeholder management, strategy design, and project and program management to provide decision support to business and executive leaders.

The Innovation Analyst, Consultant will have a pivotal role in supporting the ongoing building and executing of organization and business-unit level strategies to strengthen Blue Shield of California's ability to transform healthcare.


Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Support annual strategic planning process, and shaping our longterm strategy/goals
  • Systematically leverage a consistent, repeatable approach to strategy design and innovation, including the associated engagement model, tools, resources and artifacts
  • Collaborate with business unit strategists and planners to develop strategic direction of projects/programs and alignment across the enterprise, to inform decisionmaking at all levels of the organization
  • Under the guidance of a Strategy and Innovation team lead, facilitate the design of comprehensive enterprise and businessunit strategies, including clear, shared objectives that tie to outcomes that produce value for members, providers, and colleagues
  • Provide consulting support as needed on engagements, including facilitation of design sessions, workshops, or focus groups to engage key stakeholders across the enterprise
  • Provide consultation to the improvements and maintenance of our enterprise strategy success metrics
  • Provide program and project management support to mature BSC's strategy and innovation capabilities (e.g., Strategy Committee)
  • Create highly professional presentations to communicate and support findings and prepare executive materials to maintain clear, succinct, and meaningful communication with Blue Shield executives and our Board
  • Other duties as assigned
**QUALIFICATIONS
Your Knowledge and Experience**- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Requires at least 7 years management or strategy consulting and/or prior relevant experience
  • Graduate degree (MBA, MPH or MHA) preferred
  • Design thinking certification preferred
  • Previous experience in healthcare industry environment, health plan/insurance or healthcare provider preferred
  • Wellhoned strategic and analytic mindset, experience in synthesizing and translating complex strategic concepts. A strong balance between big picture/strategic thinking and connecting the dots to ensure alignment across the enterprise. Proven ability to distill key business issues, develop effective action plans and implement to successful conclusion, with a proven track record of developing and implementing strategies
  • Knowledge of management consulting and client management, including meeting and workshop development and management, presentation production, inductive/deductive reasoning, client interviewing, issue analysis, data analysis, process design, change management
  • Ability to construct and deliver inspiring and convincing arguments verbally and in writing. Ability to understand, organize and communicate complex information in an easily understandable format tailored to a variety of audiences
  • Uses logic and empathy to connect with others to advance strategic ideas and creatively generate support and alignment. Experience navigating large and complex organizations, including gaining access to key executives and stakeholders and successfully managing relationship building dynamics and processes within a highly matrixed environment. Demonstrated initiative and ability to drive change
  • Excited by big transformational ideas and able to infectiously stoke the fires of those around you
  • Excellent project management skills, Agile methodology experience preferred
  • Resultsdriven, collaborative, and able to drive concept to reality
