The Role:


The General Manager's exemplary leadership and supervisor skills coupled with the ability to motivate staff and encourage members will drive success.

The GM will excel with a hands-on management approach that ensures all employees are highly functional and efficient in their roles.

By continually improving the skills, knowledge and morale of all employees, and preparing qualified staff for development and promotion opportunities.


The General Manager will need to have the administrative and business skills necessary to maximize financial performance, including monitoring sales and retention, growing membership, growing personal training and ancillary revenues, and ensuring the delivery of positive member experiences.

The GM will prepare projections for review by the executive team and will oversee operational teams including:
Membership Sales and Services, Group Programming, Personal Training, Special Events (e.g. corporate team building) Operations and Member Events.

In addition to establishing and accomplishing the business objectives he/she will also be responsible for the positioning of the club in media, building the club image and reputation.


Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Responsible for driving revenue of the business and meeting sales goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to adapt and be creative.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business KPI's, organization and strategy.
  • Strong team leadership skills in a collaborative environment with the ability to motivate others.
  • Adaptable, flexible and open to change.
  • High integrity, judgment and decisionmaking.
  • Ability to multitask in constrained timeframe, work extended hours on short notice, make critical decisions and manage stress effectively.
  • Conduct staff meetings and set staff goals.
  • Three years plus of supervisor or manager experience and leadership development in a similar industry or retail management.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must be CPR/AED certified or can complete within 30 days from hire.

_Essential Duties and Responsibilities_

Peopling

  • Attract recruit, interview and bring on the best talent in the local community.


  • Acclimate

  • Provide onboarding for new members to understand the vision of success for each person and how it plays a role in the gym.


  • Develop

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, as well as personal development plans that allow each person to grow and deliver superior member experience.
  • Lead build multiple teams focused on a unified goal.


  • Care

  • Lead by example. Energize and coach moment by moment. Provide formal timely appraisals/reviews30 and 50 day and annually for all managers/directors.
  • Conduct club tours for all staff.
  • Ensure staff communication on all relevant information.
  • Approve and manage all vacation/off days.
  • Responsible for all disciplinary actions including employee improvement plan and dismissals if needed.

Performance and Financial


  • Develop
community relations and support club marketing outreach.

  • Grow the business to profitability and energize the team around daily, monthly, and annual goals.
  • Oversee all membership sales of the club.
  • Oversee monthly membership goals and track leads/promotions.
  • Work to improve member retention rates.
  • Monitor income/expenses daily.
  • Approve all payroll expenses and evaluate efficiencies and needs.
  • Keep owners and executive team aware of industry trends and areas that need focus/improvement.
  • Ensure member resolutions are done timely and with a kind spirit.
  • Ensure member retention is a key focus of the staff. _Do Whatever It Takes_ and find a way to deliver the "

  • Ensure and monitor compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Monitor performance and effectiveness of staff to meet or exceed revenue goals.

Programming/Training

  • Work with Training and Programing departments to create cutting edge program options.
  • Evaluate all programs to make sure attendance objectives are met and implement changes as needed.
  • Keep all departments fully informed of club programs to ensure maximum exposure.

Member Experience

  • Ensure excellent communication with both members and internal staff on all member programs and needs.
  • Establish excellent member satisfaction.
  • Management of the Member Socials, Events and Special Offerings.
  • Oversee corporate membership program.
