Job Summary - Recovery Specialist

Schedule:

Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon: 1pm-11pm.


The Recovery Specialist is responsible for assisting the Program Director, Clinical Director, and Counselor/Case Managers with the overall work by collaboratively supporting the program's day-to-day operations.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor the health and safety of residents in the program.
  • Completion of daily monitoring and communication log.
  • Assisting residents in following daily schedule and routines.
  • Responsible for maintaining the staffing ratio as assigned by the Program Director; (remaining on-site as directed by supervisor).
  • Attending and participating in weekly staff meetings, as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Actively promote recovery.
  • Cooperate with clinical staff to ensure effective and efficient programming.
  • Answering telephone.
  • Assist with resident needs and daily requirements.
  • Assist with daily operations such as food shopping, meal preparation, monitoring of chores, household tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Participate in your performance evaluation with the Program Director.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of DPH regulations.
  • Adhere to all Programmatic Policies and Procedures, including Driving Policy.
  • Occasional transportation of residents is possible.
  • Adhere to LHI employee handbook rules.
  • Appropriate utilization of on-call procedures.
  • Responsible for the immediate notification of safety/health/legal issues happening in the program (resident or programmatic), including completing an Internal or Critical Incident Report form.
  • Complete agency training to utilize electronic health records and complete appropriate services as assigned.
  • Responsible for timely calling out to identified supervisor due to inability to cover the shift.
  • Responsible for completing and authorizing weekly timesheets using our online portal.
  • Provide Crisis Intervention (resident and programmatic issues)
  • Utilizing overdose and prevention training (Narcan) if needed.
  • Responsible for completing both in person and online trainings as assigned monthly.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of office and communal spaces.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA and 42.CFR guidelines.
  • Complete medication training with program nurse or Medication Specialist.
  • Adhere to all programmatic medication policies and procedures.
  • Observe and document residents' self-administration of medications.
  • Complete daily medication counts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Working knowledge of MS Word & Excel and Electronic Health Records.
Physical demands


  • Must be able to sit or stand for an extended period.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Required education and experience


  • High school diploma or GED minimum requirement.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in the Addiction Recovery or mental health-related field, including internship placement hours.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to promote recovery.
  • Must obtain CPR certification

Other Requirements:

This position requires the successful completion of a CORI check.

  • Valid Drivers license in most instances is a requirement of all residential staff unless indicated by hiring manager.
  • Staff may be required to transport residents in their own vehicle or company vehicle. Failure to pass driving record check could result in inability to hire
  • Staff may be mandated to stay for an additional shift if coverage is not found by on call administrator
  • Location of shift may vary in the event of a call out at a different residential program
