Position Summary

  • The Reentry Support Institute, founded in 1989, works to interrupt the cycle of recidivism by improving the quality of life of exoffenders returning to Chicago and surrounding counties through programming designed to provide support and individualized attention during the critical reentry process. Since 2007, the Reentry Support Institute has offered the Life Skills Reentry Program which provides case management, personal development activities, job readiness training, and referrals for continuing education as well as other reentry services.
  • The PCD & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for working directly with participants entering & continuing with the program, including assisting the PCD Specialist with the personal and career development class, assisting participants with a variety of postclass related activities, as well as assisting the Community Outreach Specialist with outreach efforts and agency partnerships.
  • Please Note: Participants are returning citizens from various socioeconomic and education backgrounds that are not enrolled at Roosevelt University. A majority of this position's work is based on social service activity with an emphasis on individualized care. This is a parttime, atwill, nonexempt, administrative position that reports to the Director of the Reentry Support Institute within the Division of Student Affairs at Roosevelt University. The position has flexible scheduling with prior Director authorization with a minimum expectation of 15 hours per week and a maximum of 22.5 hours per week. Hours must be completed Monday through Friday 8:30 am 4:30 pm.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • A High School Diploma.
  • Professional experience in an administrative or customer service role which included primarily inperson interaction with participants. This includes volunteer or internship experience.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt facilitation and communication styles to assist individuals of all education levels and backgrounds.
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • A positive and professional demeanor is a must.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook as well as Google products including Gmail, Google Search, and Google Classroom.

rmal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required.
