The Niedersächsische Staatstheater Hannover GmbH is seeking a Director of the Intendant Opera (m/f/d) for the Staatsoper Hannover at the beginning of the new 2023/2024 season.

Who are we?


The Niedersächsische Staatstheater Hannover GmbH is one of the largest multi-disciplinary theaters in Germany (opera, drama, ballet, and concerts) and reaches approximately 370,000 visitors with around 1,200 events per year.

We employ approximately 950 staff members and are proud of our positive working atmosphere.

Laura Berman took over as the Intendant of the Staatsoper Hannover at the beginning of the 2019/20 season. Diversity and internationality shape the program and ensemble of the Staatsoper Hannover.

In addition to contemporary productions of works from the classical repertoire, there are also premieres, musical excursions, and formats for young audiences; a program that also receives recognition beyond the state of Lower Saxony.

We strive for open dialogue with the city's society and communication with the European opera scene.


Your responsibilities:

  • Content and organizational communication and representation of the Intendant within and outside of the Staatsoper in close cooperation with the Intendant's assistant
  • Collaboration, development, and management of strategic partnerships (city society, politics)
  • Collaboration, development, and management of thematic projects of the Staatsoper (e.g. digitalization
