ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

PROGRAM SUMMARY
CPC Summer Rising is a summer program that serve students from grades K-5 each year (ages The goal of the program is to support students in all learning areas including intellectual, academic, physical, social and emotional growth.

The program offers creative and structured activities to strengthen participants' academic skills and incorporates the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in a variety of projects, as well as art and physical activities.

CPC Summer Rising will be located at the five (5) following sites:

  • PS 2: 80 Catherine St, New York, NY 1003
  • PS 124: 40 Division St, New York, NY 1000
  • PS 130: 28-42 Trinity Place, New York, NY 1000
  • PS 20: Barclay Avenue, Flushing, NY 1135
  • PS 153: 1100 Elm Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11230

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and implement detailed lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate and engaging that will be submitted to supervisor and Educational Specialist to ensure structured activities are implemented throughout the day.
  • Provide supervision to children at all times to ensure their safety. Handle medical emergencies, and address behavioral issues that may arise between children.
  • Document student attendance and incidents in compliance with program rules and agency policies.
  • Work constructively with partner and other colleagues; communicate regularly with supervisory staff.
  • Maintain an organized classroom and take responsibility for upkeep of educational equipment, materials and appearance of classroom.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:


  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have at least one year of experience working with elementary age children and knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Must have experience in planning and executing lessons plans and structured educational, recreational and cultural youth activities.

Skills and Competencies:


  • Selfmotivated and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates ability and desire to work with and relate to children.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS OVERVIEW
- $ $18.00 per week; up to 40 hours per week

  • CPC offers eligible seasonal staff members mandatory benefits, including paid New York State sick time
