- Active supervision of children in the after-school program.
- Support the implementation of educational and recreational activities that promote physical, mental, and social development.
- Foster a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for children.
- Interact with recreation staff, youth participants, caregivers, and the general public.

- Set up and take down equipment and ensure all equipment and supplies are properly stored.
- Enforce rules and regulations of programs and facilities as mandated by Department policies and procedures.
- Complete appropriate reports and forms as necessary.

- Knowledge of youth development.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate youth activities.
- Ability to learn all of the latest safety standards and information related to supervision of children.
- Ability to conduct and participate in recreation activities.
- Ability to assist with related clerical duties.
- Ability to demonstrate good customer service and staff relations.
- Ability to maintain physical and mental capacities appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Professional work habits including but not limited to reliability, dependability, creativity, and demonstration of enthusiasm.
- Ability to work varying shifts.
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Knowledge, interest, and experience working with children.
- Units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred. Transcripts required.
- CPR/First Aid Certified.
- Program runs August May 2024
- El Cerrito Recreation offers after school programs at three elementary schools (Harding, Fairmont and Madera)
- Hiring at all levels - youth work "rookies" to experienced Teachers.
- Pay range depends on experience.
- Positions are part-time and are approximately 15-20 hours per week
- Shifts are flexible and range Monday-Friday 1:30pm-6:00pm, depending on location

THE DEPARTMENT AND POSITION
The Recreation Department manages a full range of recreational and special activities for youth, adults, and seniors. The department also schedules activities, building rentals, picnic reservations, sports fields and tennis courts. Childcare Aid's will assist in facilitating and leading before and after-school care programs and supporting the department's overall childcare program.
