JOB DESCRIPTION:
**Provides general support to the Extended Day Supervisor (or Assistant Supervisor) of a school or center of Arlington Public Schools (APS) - helps plan and present Extended Day programing, helps lead, schedule, train and monitor the Extended Day workforce of Aides and Trainees, helps coach and keep Aides/Trainees informed, and personally provides frontline custody and care of children at the facility of assignment. Helps ensure accountability, safety and care of children at the facility (or a segment thereof). Helps ensure compliance with rules, adherence to programming, maintenance of order and documentation of accidents, incidents and inappropriate behavior. Administers medications, first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as needed. Performs related functions. Also performs routine clerical-administrative support tasks such as checking, listing, compiling, filing and light typing. Properly performed Extended Day work team leadership directly affects compliance and effectiveness of the Extended Day Program at the facility of assignment

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
**The Extended Team Leader supports an Extended Day Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor in the management and implementation of the Extended Day (out-of-school time) program, supervision of staff, and the coordination of program activities.

**Duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the program supervisors and staff: - Ensure the safety, accountability and well-being of the students and staff;

  • Assist in planning and implementing a range of age and ability appropriate programs and activities for children years of age. Programming will include, but is not limited to enrichment activities (i.e. literacy, STEM, fitness), athletic and recreational activities, homework supervision, and special events;
  • Communicate effectively with parents, administrators, and school personnel;
  • Lead and participate in professional development opportunities;
  • Support compliance with Arlington Public schools policies and procedures and licensing requirements;
  • Problemsolving and decisionmaking in support of staff, children, and the program;
  • A Team Leader must receive 24 hours of relevant and programmatic professional development each school year
  • Other related duties as required.
  • EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of, and skill in, assigning/reviewing tasks, setting the pace, and otherwise helping the supervisor by performing group leader work, or ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge/skill set.
Knowledge of, and skill in, child accountability, custody and care to help ensure a safe, secure Extended Day environment.


Knowledge of baseline child development and behavior management information, including challenge-engagement/achievement-behavior issues, to help plan, monitor and present effective programming and help ensure an orderly, supportive and respectful Extended Day environment.


Knowledge of the operational details of the APS Extended Day Program, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of this body of information, to carry out program support responsibilities.


Skill in problem solving to select, organize and logically process relevant information (verbal, numerical or abstract) to solve a problem.


Skill in oral communication to understand verbal information (including facts, descriptions and ideas) and to express such information verbally so that others will understand.


Skill in written communication to understand written information (including facts, descriptions and ideas), and to express such information in writing so that others will understand.


Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with business contacts in a businesslike, customer service-oriented manner; this includes skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and working in harmony with others as a member or a leader of a team.

Baseline skill in using a computer, modern office suite software (such as MS Office), enterprise software and specialized software.

Proficiency in, and willingness to, administer emergency medications, first aid and CPR.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1. A high school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience (a) providing custody and care of groups of school-age children, (b) providing child development or instructional activities to groups of school-age children, and (c) interacting with parents/guardians of children in one's custody and care.


Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and tailoring and delivering work products and services to meet the needs of diverse groups is
desired .
