The ILM is a research institution closely linked to the Innovation Alliance Baden-Württemberg (innBW).

We work on projects from the industry and funding projects in the field of applied photonics, specifically in the areas of medical technology, in-vitro diagnostics, light propagation in scattering media, and optical measurement technology.

To expand our business fields in the field of applied photonics, we are looking for a department head.

You will be responsible for the strategic development of your department, as well as the acquisition, implementation, and management of national and international research projects in your field of expertise.

You will actively shape and build your department, and contribute ideas across departments to the development of the institute. You will particularly enjoy taking on entrepreneurial responsibility and strategic planning. Information about the institute can be found on our website.

We are currently seeking to fill the position of a department head (m/f/d) for applied photonics, both in experimental and theoretical areas.

You will lead and develop a team of highly qualified, motivated, and experienced scientists, supported by experienced department heads.

With your cooperative and situational leadership style, you will create the optimal conditions for your team to work effectively and provide high-quality services to our clients.

You will be responsible for the professional and economic development of the department, actively seeking and utilizing entrepreneurial opportunities and ensuring successful service delivery for existing and new clients.

Together with your team, you will expand your expertise to achieve a leading position in the international market.
