After School Program Activity Leader (Duval Site
Title:
Afterschool Activity Leader
Summary:
Implement daily activities of Kids Count afterschool program by effectively leading groups of elementary aged students.
Schedule:
_
Monday - Friday, 12:30pm-5:30pm (11:30am every Wednesday). _
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, orderly, and enriching environment for children
- Successfully lead daily activities with groups of up to 12 children in the following areas: tutoring, homework, socialemotional learning, character development, and enrichment
- Contribute to program plans as needed
- Reinforce rules and procedures
- Manage and supervise volunteers
- Perform regular documentation such as attendance, dismissal, and contact information
- Develop positive relationships with parents and caregivers
- Walk students in an orderly fashion from Rawlings to Kids Count or assist with van transport of students from Metcalfe to Duval site
- Keep supplies organized and coordinate with Site Coordinator to purchase necessary supplies
- Clean up the site at the end of each day
- Provide First Aid as needed
Qualifications:
- Passionate about empowering children to reach their full potential
- Experience working with students in a structure setting
- Successful experience leading elementaryage children in an educational environment
- Ability to create a safe, nurturing, orderly, and enriching environment for children
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, parents, and teachers
- Strong organizational skills
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- Preferably available every afternoon, Monday-Friday
- Successful completion of 40 hours online training in accordance with Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) regulations for schoolaged children (can obtain once hired)
- Must be CPR/First Aid certified (can obtain once hired)
Terms of Employment:
- Hourly position: expectation is 22 to 25 hours per week, with an average of 23.5 hrs./wk.
- Starting rate: $15.00/hour dependent upon degree and experience
- Unpaid Leave: Alachua County School system holidays (30 days) and up to 3 additional days of contract period (must not be consecutive days)
- Supervision: Program Director
- Starting date: April / May 2023
