Dental Assistant

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at our San Diego-based dental office. This position offers the flexibility of both part-time and full-time options. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the dentist and the rest of the dental team to provide exceptional patient care and support during dental procedures.

Responsibilities:

Chairside Assistance:

Prepare treatment rooms for patient visits, ensuring cleanliness and proper instrument and equipment setup.
Assist the dentist during dental procedures, providing chairside support and anticipating the dentist's needs.
Pass instruments and materials to the dentist, while maintaining proper infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.
Assist with dental impressions, models, and other laboratory procedures.

Patient Care and Education:

Greet and prepare patients for treatment, ensuring their comfort and answering any questions they may have.
Provide post-operative instructions to patients regarding oral hygiene and care following dental procedures.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and preventive dental care.

Sterilization and Maintenance:

Follow strict infection control protocols, including proper sterilization and disinfection of dental instruments and equipment.
Clean and maintain dental equipment and treatment areas, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
Order and maintain dental supplies and inventory, keeping track of stock levels and restocking as necessary.

Administrative Tasks:

Assist with scheduling appointments and managing the dental office's patient flow.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
Handle billing and insurance-related tasks, such as processing payments and submitting insurance claims.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or relevant experience as a dental assistant.
Current CPR certification.
X-ray certification/license in accordance with state regulations.
Strong knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology.
Proficiency in infection control and sterilization techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Detail-oriented and well-organized.
