Tompkins Excavating is a woman owned, award winning, family run business servicing the lower Hudson Valley for over 40 years.

We are an excavation / site work company looking to add an Experienced Field Leader to our growing business.

Must have at least 5 years of experience as a Field Leader managing multimillion dollar excavation/site work projects and ability to run a crew of at least 8.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Producing work, sequencing and assigning tasks, supervising the crew, and handling customer interactions
Ability to communicate, teach your crew, encourage and foster our company culture.

Must have knowledge in sewer main installation with manholes, DIP water mains, drainage and drainage structures

Proficient and experienced heavy equipment operator (must run CAT controls)

Must read plans, set grades, layout and installation of all site aspects

Ability to keep up with daily paperwork
Intelligent machine control and GPS experience is a plus
Organize with crew what materials needed for project; order materials as needed
Identify improvement opportunities and develop new systems to improve operations
Ensure crew understands the scope of work and schedule
Attend any and all meetings scheduled
Project scheduling, planning ahead and plan is communicated to the crew
Managing work site with crews to bring in job on time and on budget
Maintain OSHA Safety standards
Must have OSHA 30 minimum
Must have NY State UDig Certificated Excavator Program
Multitasker, versatile, organized, selfstarter
