Upper School Film/Digital Video Production Teacher


DEPARTMENT:

REPORTS TO:
Principal


Purpose Statement:

This position is responsible for teaching film production skills and techniques for upper school students at Calvary Christian Academy.

The teacher will instruct students as required by the curriculum objectives established by Calvary Christian Academy. The specific focus is to provide quality instruction using a biblical perspective.


Scope:

This position interacts with the faculty members, students, and their parents to assess instruct and achieve optimum growth and development of the student through Performing Arts activities.


Specific Responsibilities:


  • Implement film production curriculum for secondary grades
  • Write lesson plans for all classes on a weekly basis according to Calvary Christian Academy guidelines.
  • Create and oversee an ongoing film series for CCA that will be implemented into the curriculum (content to be determined).
  • Be available for student questions, concerns, ministry and counsel during lunch hours, before school, after school, or in between classes.
  • Participate in scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Participates in the professional development and accreditation process for the school's continuous improvement plan.
  • Participates in personal professional development in the area of teaching as well as film production and film making.
  • Fine Arts performances and/or High School Film shoots in whatever capacity needed.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

  • Group facilitation skills.
  • Bachelor degree in Video Production, Film making or equivalent field of study.
  • Full knowledge of the craft of screenwriting, including proper formatting.
  • Full knowledge of the basic principles of preproduction and production management.
  • Full knowledge of the basic principles of cinematography including, but not limited to, composition, exposure, color temperature as well as the craft and techniques involved with lighting for video.
  • Full knowledge of the basic principles of editing fiction and nonfiction video projects.
  • Full knowledge of the basic principles of sound recording and mixing.
  • Continuing professional development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Flexibility.
