    9/80, every other Friday offL3Harris' Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Lead, Systems Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Salt Lake City, UT facility.


    Position Overview:


    The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the life-cycle support of data link (wideband, narrowband and/or SATCOM) systems from conceptual development through product phase-out.

    This includes proposal support, requirements analysis and management, task planning, technical documentation (including generation of Statements of Work and specifications), design oversight participation, design synthesis in a multi-functional engineering environment, build and test support, subcontract control, risk management input, integration and verification test support, system deployment support and in-house technical support during the operational life-cycle of the system.


    Essential Responsibilities:
    Performs research and development in assigned engineering disciplineAssists in the planning and conducting of technical projects or portions of projectsEmploys best practices, tools and techniques and applies processes and methodologies selected to design and develop new products or modify existing productsAssists in the capture and/or management of customer and derived requirements, decomposition and assignment of requirements to appropriate functional areas of responsibility, insuring traceability from a verification test matrix back to original customer and system level derived requirementsProvides support to lead engineers in developing technical specifications, interface control documents, test plans and procedures, configuration analysis and processing solutions, and test conformance to specificationsReviews literature, patents and current industry practices of relevance to assigned projectEnsures technical performance, quality, and adherence to scheduleFollows processes in conformance with established policies and objectivesMay coordinate the efforts of technical support personnelMay provide technical consultation to internal organizations and/or customersMay evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or servicesMay participate in design reviewsBasic Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.

    In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experiencePreferred Qualifications:


    Minimum of 7 years' experience with engineering design concepts and engineering practices and procedures required to develop, test and deploy systems.

    Experience in product development a plus (preferably in military application environment).Presentation and communication skills (verbal/written/visual)Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical deadlinesUnderstanding in coordination of project(s) and efforts of technical support personnelAbility to productively contribute work, ideas and collaboration as part of a teamAbility to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance, as requiredAbility, willingness to travel when required to support customer installation, demonstrations and general field support
