    Description

    Serves as an agricultural economist for research and analysis on the development and evaluation of policy options of complex issues that cut across agricultural policy and conservation, energy, climate change, and the environment.

    Responsible for publication and/or presentation of those analyses to various stakeholders to enhance understanding of those issues.
    Develops appropriate research methods and evaluation techniques for OCE to analyze the economic impact of relevant policy options.

    Provides advice and guidance to the Chief Economist on data and statistical issues involved in analysis of agricultural policy and conservation, energy, climate change, and the environment.

    Plans, develops, organizes, and coordinates extensive multi-disciplinary analyses, which lead to policy options for domestic agricultural and rural programs and, occasionally, international agriculture on the short and intermediate range.

    Evaluates conclusions and recommendations reached on agricultural programs issues by USDA agencies, tasks forces, and study groups as well as by private farm, environmental, conservation, and industry groups.

    Analyzes and evaluates legislative proposals for agricultural policy and program implications; prepares reports on legislative proposals concerning policy issues that are required by Congressional committees.

    Determines the need for amendment or complete revision of conclusions and recommendations reached in economic and statistical analysis.
