Pawsitive Change Coordinator


Summary Statement:


The Pawsitive Change Coordinator is responsible for the day to day interactions with prisons regarding the administration of the Pawsitive Change program for Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue to ensure the program operation and activities adhere to policies and guidelines.

The position is also responsible, in partnership with the Director of Public Relations for advocating for expansion of the program into more prisons and ensuring compliance with the new location procedures and guidelines.

The Pawsitive Change Coordinator is to follow current policies and procedures, and act in support of the company's strategic business plan.

Reports to Director of Operations and Director of PR and Pawsitive Change


Duties and Responsibilities include*:

  • Communicate with Marley's Mutt management progress and changes of Pawsitive Change.
  • Assist with new prison program development including building setup, OP's and trainer assignment.
  • Communicate with Head Trainers about program and prison needs and/or concerns.
  • Work with Head trainers to create and maintain Yearly Prison Schedules and Timelines
  • Keep updated records/files and assist with reports/proposals as needed.
  • Track Inventory of Animal & Maintenance supplies assist with ordering/purchasing when needed.
  • Manage program inquiries, including social media.
  • Assist with creating materials for program promotion and growth.
  • Communicate with CRM, Captains and other prison admins on daytoday activities and/or clearance needs. Clear all new visitors, volunteers, trainers, equipment, etc.
  • Schedule and organize PC institutional events (graduations, walkthroughs, etc.) and maintain PC monthly calendar.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally (e.g. large dogs, feed)
  • The ability to carry up to 25 pounds approximately 50 feet
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds from dogs
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain (e.g. outdoors, in and around dog kennels)
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • The ability to work in extreme weather outdoors, occasionally
  • The ability to work indoors, sit at a computer terminal and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment frequently.
  • The ability to stoop, bend or kneel frequently to handle dogs
  • The ability to safely operate vehicles (e.g. pickup, van, etc.) to foster homes
  • The ability to stand, sit and walk regularly
  • Ability to converse on phone and via the internet to facilitate adoptions.
  • The ability to engage with the public
  • The ability to read and write effectively to post information on available dogs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work, and distance vision to recognize issues with dogs
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

  • Effectively communicate and converse with prison staff, coworkers and public regarding dogs and Pawsitive Change Program

  • Interact respectfully with others, and take direction and provide direction, as appropriate

Experience:


  • Dog handling: 2 years (required)
  • Sales: 1 year (preferred)

Ability to Commute:

  • Tehachapi, CA preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Tehachapi, CA 93561: Relocate before starting work (required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (preferred)
