Job Summary:

The Barista is responsible for selling, preparing and serving all beverages, wine and food.

Duties include overseeing coffee bar maintenance, making menu suggestions, delivering food and drinks, describing the offerings to guests, recommending wine selections, monitoring guest satisfaction, and managing inventory.

Must be pleasant, conscientious, and professional with an extensive knowledge of coffee and tea, product, and alcoholic beverage selections.

Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly, and ensure smooth service operations and quality service.

A little bit about your day:
Reporting to the Director of Restaurants and/or the Senior Outlets Manager, every day is different, but you will mostly:

  • Promote Regent's service philosophy and style through our people attributes.
  • Maintain impeccable personal grooming standards to uphold the professional and property style of the resort.
  • Ensure all side work applicable to assigned station is completed each shift
  • Lead Pre-Shift meetings and educate the team on new recipes and trends in the industry.
  • Maintains clean and organized workstations that are cohesive with the outlet's philosophy, culture, and standards of excellence.
  • Recognize or seek areas for staff and outlet improvement and offer positive solutions for change.
  • Operate within the outlet on a daily basis with efficiency, respect, friendliness, professionalism, teamwork, knowledge, patience, awareness, compassion, courtesy and initiative.
  • Understand completely all programs, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs.
  • Stocking all supplies as needed, receiving inventory and assisting with month end inventory.
  • Bussing used glasses, plates, silverware washing.
  • Participate in knowledge checks.
  • Food preparation is required including warming in a toaster, making smoothies and serving soft serve.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment all times.
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of staff and guests.

What We need from you:


  • Must have 1 year experience as a barista in a highvolume café, luxury hotel and/or fine dining experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must have good understanding of classic coffee and tea drinks.
  • Must be eager to constantly learn trends in coffee and tea.
  • Knowledge of spirits and wine, a plus.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering impeccable guest service.
  • Basic math skills are frequently used when recording and adding guest checks.
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Must be able to exert wellpaced ability in limited space and maneuver between simultaneous functions.
  • Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What you can expect from us:
The hourly pay range for this role is
$23.04 to $28.80. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at
Regent Santa Monica Beach.

This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.

We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.

A colleague's pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
