    About the Department


    The Chicago Center for HIV Elimination (CCHE), is situated within the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago Medicine.

    CCHE aims to eliminate all new HIV transmission events by 2041.


    The University of Chicago's position on the South Side makes it uniquely situated to test, treat, and prevent new HIV infections in a highly affected population.

    The South Side communities and majority Black suburbs connected to them to the South represent the largest contiguous Black population in the United States.

    By using our integrated HIV transmission elimination approaches, we are beginning to make new infections in these communities less frequent.

    Job Summary

    The Supportive Services Senior Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing reporting, task management and coordination of service programming. The Supportive Services Senior Coordinator will also hold a caseload that is assigned through internal referrals from our testing programs and research projects, specifically resources for people of color and those who identify as LGBQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer) and TGNC (transgender and gender nonconforming).

    The Supportive Services Senior Coordinator will be a part of the Supportive Services team and will work with a variety of community members who are referred to Supportive Services for additional assistance.

    They will be involved in working with community members over the phone or in person.

    Responsibilities
    Call community members and conduct resource counseling.

    Complete all related documentation and notes, and research appropriate and individualized resources for community members.

    Manage retention in care for their caseload and follow the fidelity monitoring protocols in data collection and documentation.

    Task managing Supportive Services Coordinators, Student Resource Counselors, and Supportive Services Interns.

    Actively pursue required knowledge and skills for professional development.


    Stay informed about the resources available on the south side of Chicago that serve our population, and inform the team about opportunities for collaboration.

    Assist with day to day Supportive Services tasks, such as rapid response support for those who are seeking sameday treatment and will conduct assessments and safety plans for community members in distress, and holding a resource specialty for the team.

    Coordinates and may participate in quality assurance reviews conducted by study sponsors, federal agencies, or specially designated review groups.

    Analyzes studyrelated documentation, such as protocol worksheets, procedural manuals, adverse event reports, institutional review board documents, or progress reports.

    Performs other related work as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications


    Education:
    Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a fouryear degree).
    Work

    Experience:
    Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 57 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
    Certifications:Preferred Qualifications


    Education:
    Advanced d egree in social work or counseling.


    Experience:
    Experience working with and/or providing care to LGBT populations, Black and Latino community members.

    Experience providing case management.

    Experience performing phlebotomy or a willingness to be trained in phlebotomy.


    Technical Skills or Knowledge:
    Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Access and Word.

    Strong knowledge of Chicago social service resources.

    Strong knowledge of program subject matter.

    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    Ability and/or willingness to provide HIV/STI treatment, education, and prevention in nontraditional settings (community venues).

    Working Conditions
    Work nontraditional hours.

    Travel to various community venues across the metropolitan area.
