- Receive and process all referrals to program and psychiatric services.
- Maintain accurate wait-lists, including numbers for quarterly reports.
- Responsible for providing program orientation to un'ina who participate in behavioral health services utilizing all required forms and ensuring quality of care, in accordance with CARF standards.
- Complete the Alaska Screening Tool (AST) with new un'ina.
- Verification of third party insurance, Medicaid, Medicare for all scheduled behavioral health un'ina prior to enrollment, and monthly thereafter.
- Complete the admission, enrollment, and discharge process in electronic health record and AKAIMS for all behavioral health un'ina.
- Data entry of all encounters in AKAIMS, ensuring the Behavioral Health Department maintains a 0% error rate.
- Provide supportive services to individuals during treatment including un'ina follow-up calls, scheduling, appointment reminders, coordinate medication needs, etc.
- Provide clerical support to behavioral health providers including, but not limited to, faxing, requests for information, digitizing of documents, etc.
- Post accurate weekly schedules on talking rooms each Monday morning.
- Provide assistance to Psychiatrists as assigned by the supervisor and/or the department director.
- Responsible for coordinating and recording minutes for monthly integrated provider meetings.
- Submit Service Authorization Requests for additional units for Medicaid un'ina.
- Maintains current documentation and records of intake services as well as statistical data and reports required by the program and supervisor.
- Submit timely monthly reports of services, activities, and other reports required by the supervisor and department director.
- Participate in DWC integrated and department staff meetings, and other meetings as requested.

- ANTHC (BHA) Program certification, or must be obtained within 6 months of date of hire, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Three years of experience in a healthcare setting required, with Community Behavioral Health setting preferred.
- Possess knowledge of intake processes, skills, and methods of relating to the un'ina and families.
- Possess knowledge of HIPAA, client confidentiality and client rights, which are subject to State and Federal laws and the ability to explain such in terms the un'ina is able to comprehend.
- AKAIMS experience, preferred.
- A Valid AK Driver's License and must remain insurable under KIT insurance policy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to type 60 WPM with less than 10% error rate, typing test required.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong team player.
- Ability to develop and maintain a positive working relationship with other departments.
- Knowledge of the cultural, social, and economic background of the population being served.

Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Intake Specialist will serve as the primary person to provide un'ina intakes for the Behavioral Health clinicians, counselors and psychiatrists as well as the information contact for persons inquiring about Behavioral Health programs and services. The person filling this position will ensure un'ina are responded to in a timely and professional manner as well as conduct a thorough intake process that meets quality standards for CARF and State certification.
